Thursday May 5, 2011 - Day 3

Today found us leaving the Glorieta Conference Center and heading south a bit further to El Rancho de Las Golondrinas (the ranch of the swallows) and Spanish Colonial Days where we learned about candle making, clothes washing and corn-grinding, all of which were children's jobs on the ranch in the 18th century. We also saw demonstrations of wool-dyeing, rope making, got to make some music and visit a one-room school house from the 1870's, a home from the 1870's that was used in the making of several movies including Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
As the afternoon progressed, we traveled north, returning to Colorado where we had dinner at Chili's in Alamosa and checked into our lodging at the Holiday Inn Alamosa. After dinner, the kids had a chance to swim and play board games before calling it a day and heading for bed.
See you all tomorrow at KLES after we stop off at the Great Sand Dunes.
